Bay Area Folks! Day of the Devs is Tomorrow, Saturday, Nov 7!

If you live in or near the San Francisco Bay Area, come over to Day of the Devs tomorrow, Saturday, November 7th, 2015!

What is Day of the Devs you ask? It’s a really fun and free video game exhibition and show and circus and whatnot, kind of like a mini-PAX expo hall, but free and local. It’s put on by Double Fine and iam8bit and it’s a blast. There will be tons of cool games there this year, DJs, and it’s all-ages!

We’ve shown SpyParty at all of them so far, and it’s always been great. Last year, we transformed a small underground metal box into a cocktail lounge. What will happen this year? I have no idea, since it’s a whole new venue. Something magical, I’m sure.

We’ll have the latest build of the game with all the recent updates, like the Not-Strictly Ballroom Update and the Third Batch of New Art Characters, and this year both slappydavis and cleetose will be on hand to train people.

Of course, we’ll be selling SpyParty with the awesome codecards again, probably with a new discount for group purchases, but I still need to figure that out. That reminds me I also need to write up the Part 2 of the original codecards details post, oops!

Yes, this code is live. Well, it was, but it probably isn't now, but maybe you're the first one to read this?

So, come on down to the Dogpatch in SF to The Midway, 900 Marin St, San Francisco, CA 94124, from 3pm-9pm tomorrow and say hi!

I waited half an hour to give people the chance, but then I swooped in and claimed the code.  My fiancee now owns SpyParty.

I thought that email looked familiar!  It’s funny, in the past the codes I bury in blog posts disappear in seconds, but I guess the SF Bay Area localization of this post made it so most people didn’t bother scrolling down, so a winner is you(r fiance)!

Can u guys put it up on steam? This game looks awesome, I would love to play it there

Yeah, it’ll be on Steam Early-Access at some point probably early next year. If you buy it now you’ll get a Steam key, of course. Not sure what I’m going to do about pricing yet, but if I raise the price I’ll give people a long heads-up.

San Francisco seems like such a great place to live for artists. It’s too bad the cost of living is so high. Any plans to include a SF themed level in SpyParty?

Has Giant Bomb ever contacted you with interest in SpyParty? I suppose it’s not in the PR/ad phase yet.

GiantBomb has covered the game a few times, yeah.  As for an SF themed level, not sure…for High-rise we used some SF condos for reference, but didn’t specifically make the skyline that of SF.  Also, the traditional mansion in the environments reveal is based on the Flood Mansion.  However, in the same way we’re trying to make the game “timeless”, I think too much specificity in place might be a mistake, but who knows, I got some good level ideas when I visited Turkey this summer.  :)
